How much would it cost me to replace my windshield?

Each windshield is priced individually, since the price is being determined based on the year, make, and model, as well as any additional features you windshield may have. Email or call with your vehicle information for an exact quote.

If I decide to wait for my car, how long will it take to replace the windshield?

It usually takes anywhere from 1 hour to 1.5 hours to replace the windshield, and about another hour for the adhesive to cure to a point where it is safe to drive your vehicle. In total, you should plan on letting your vehicle sit for about 2.5 hours before driving it again. However the driveway time may vary depending on the climate in which the glass is being installed in, the urethane that is being used and other variables. You should always ask one of our technicians when it is safe to drive your vehicle.

How long do I have to wait before I can wash my car after my windshield replacement?

FAQs about Windshield Repair

I have a chip in my windshield. At what point should I get it repaired?

Immediately! The longer you wait; the risk of breakage becomes greater. Also, moisture and impurities can get into chip making it more difficult to repair completely. Place a small piece of scotch tape over the repair until you can get it done.

How do I know if my windshield can be repaired?
In most cases if the damaged area is no larger than quarter (1.25inches) and is not on the very edge of the glass, it usually can be repaired. Otherwise, damage to your windshield that is greater than 1.25 inches or a quarter, when repaired, can become unstable. Additionally, a large pit may spread during the repair process, growing worse under the high pressure needed to inject the damaged area. Certainly, the best way to determine if the damage can be repaired, is to stop by our shop to have one of our technicians examine the break.

Is my chip still going to be visible after the repair has been completed?
Yes. The main purpose of a chip repair is to prevent further damage to your glass and to restore the structural integrity of the vehicle. However, often times, the damaged area should become clearer after the repair, while each incident of damage is unique. With most successful repairs, a slight blemish or imperfection where the impact occurred is normal. In most cases, you should expect the cosmetic appearance of the repair to show some improvement as compared to the damage prior to the repair.

Can you guarantee that a chip will not become larger during the repair process?
No. In some cases, through no fault of the repair technician, the attempt to repair a windshield can result in the chip or crack becoming larger. However, we can guarantee that upon completion of a successful repair, the chip or crack will not crack further and that the repair will pass any state vehicle inspection, or we will credit the cost of the repair toward a replacement.

FAQs about Insurance

Do I have to go with the shop my insurance company tells me to?
No! As the customer, you have the right to choose the company you want to use. Your insurance company and the billing network they contract with do not have the right to tell you which auto glass shop to use. In the auto glass industry this is called steering, which is against the law. When you dial the 1-800 number for auto glass claims, most of the time you are not talking with your insurance company, you are calling a “network” claims processing center with their own glass shops. They will, of course, try to encourage you to schedule with them, however, Washington State law gives you the “Right to Choose”. So you have every right to choose any shop you trust, and when you choose Master Auto Glass, you can be sure of our quality service within your insurance company’s guidelines.

Is my rock chip repair really going to be free?
Yes. The insurance company encourages repair (which prevents replacement), which is why in most cases they will waive your deductible for repair. It is a courtesy service that is provided to you and it is a service that you have paid for when you pay your insurance premiums. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage. The fact is that over 70% of all the windshields that are replaced each year could have been prevented if the original damage was repaired before it got any worse.

Will filing a glass claim count against my insurance premium?
Most insurance companies will not count auto glass damage as a claim against you, so they are generally considered a no fault claim and is not treated as a claim that you are at fault for. To be certain, please refer to your policy or contact your agent and/or insurance provider to confirm your specific coverage.

Do I need to contact my insurance company or agent before I set up an appointment for services?

No. We are insurance approved so we work with most insurance companies. Our staff is train to answer questions that you might have about the process. In some instances, we can file the claim for you. In others, your participation is required. In these instances, we will walk you through the claims process to ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible. All that you need to have is your proof of insurance card; we will handle all of the paper work for you.

What if I only have liability coverage?
Because liability insurance only provides coverage for damages to another vehicle, unfortunately the repair will not be free. However we do offer competitive cash price for the repair, so this is still a great alternative for replacement. We accept multiple payment options including cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard.
